Global Voices is a great site to track the global discourse within all kinds of regions of the world on all kinds of issues. The idea is that they have local editors scattered all over the world reading up blogs on what is happening locally and write summaries in English. This means if you want to get an overview of the current discourse within the Chilean blogosphere, for example, you can read articles summarizing in English what is a hot topic in Chilean – Spanish written – blogs. Pretty handy, if you just don’t speak the language perfectly yet, but want to know what’s happening.
By the way, the site features faceted classification in this respect that you can browse by region or topic. Furthermore the terms are a bit weighted and put into a tag cloud. What else can one ask for?
Another geeky note: users of a special computer type might feel a bit acquainted with the logo of Global Voices.
